Handle fresh waste and debris promptly

Remove solid waste as soon as practical and clear leaves, hair, and organic debris before they break down into the turf. Pay extra attention to corners, fence lines, shaded sections, and the route dogs use most often. Those areas tend to collect material and hold odor longer.

Rinse the right areas—not just the whole lawn

General rinsing can help with fresh residue, but it may not correct recurring odor in concentrated pet zones. Watch how water moves through the turf and note where it ponds or drains slowly. Persistent odor after rinsing can point to buildup in the fibers, infill, or material below the visible surface.

Keep fibers upright and infill distributed

Running paths and favorite bathroom spots often flatten faster than the rest of the yard. Grooming lifts the fibers and helps redistribute existing infill. If the turf feels loose, looks thin between blades, or will not stay upright after grooming, it may need an infill assessment.

Know when professional cleaning makes sense

Consider a professional refresh when odor returns quickly, fibers stay matted, debris is embedded, drainage seems slower, or homeowner maintenance no longer restores the yard. DFW heat can make an existing odor problem more noticeable, so waiting for the hottest part of summer is not always ideal.

Use frequency that matches the household

There is no single schedule for every pet yard. One small dog on well-draining turf may need less frequent professional care than several large dogs using a compact run. Monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual, and one-time options let service frequency follow actual use.
