TURF REFRESH CO. GUIDE
How Texas Weather Affects Artificial Grass
North Texas weather can leave turf dull, compacted, and less comfortable.
The short answer
Texas weather does not damage every artificial lawn in the same way, but heat, dust, pollen, storms, leaves, and heavy outdoor use can make fibers look flat, move infill, trap debris, and make existing odor more noticeable.
Heat and high-use areas
Summer temperatures can make pet odor easier to detect and highlight traffic lanes around gates, patios, pools, play equipment, and furniture. Heat-related melting or permanent fiber damage cannot be reversed by cleaning and should be evaluated separately.
Dust, pollen, and windblown debris
Fine material can settle below the blade tips even when the surface looks clear. Remove loose debris before rinsing or treatment so it does not turn into wet buildup deeper in the pile.
Storms and drainage
Heavy rain can reveal low spots, blocked drainage, shifted infill, or edges where runoff carries debris onto the turf. Cleaning improves the surface but does not replace structural drainage correction.
A seasonal care routine
Inspect the turf after storms, clear leaves before they decompose, monitor pet-use areas during hot weather, and schedule professional care when fibers remain flat, odor persists, infill becomes uneven, or water lingers.
